Ospreys Community Club of the Year 2017/18

TONDU RFC NAMED AS COMMUNITY CLUB OF THE YEAR BY OSPREYS
                 by Mike Sully
TONDU RFC  have been named as the Ospreys team of the year above Swansea valley sides Vadre and Morriston who were also in the top three.
Tondu's first season back in division one central West has been a successful adventure with a 4th position finish looking on the cards.
Their second narrowly lost out to Heol y Cyw in the final of the Enoch Lewis Cup last weekend and the youth side won the WRU PLATE FINAL against Pembroke at the PRINCIPALITY STADIUM a week earlier.
The junior set up at Pandy Park is also on a all time high with next season being the first time in the club will have a team competing at every level.
Chairman Graham Thomas added "We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Ospreys club of the year. It's great recognition to the army of volunteers throughout our club who give up their time to make our club the success it is."
TONDU RFC were described as phenomenal in one nomination due to their efforts around junior rugby.
The set up of the mini Wheelers has been incredibly successful with more children than ever playing at the club.
There have been notable success in both cup and leagues across the ages as well as a working pathway that sees players progressing through the ranks to go onto playing in higher levels of the game.
But it's the off field efforts that really caught the attention of the judges, from the club almost closing they have put significant time and money into turning things around to become a sustainable family club at the heart of the community.
